It's never fun to have fever or pain.
If your newborn is less than two months old and has a rectal temperature over 100.4 you MUST take your child directly to the Emergency Room at your local pediatric hospital, such as: Phoenix Children's Hospital or Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.
If your child is older than two months, does not appear to be in distress, and has a temperature over 100, we suggest trying a fever reducer such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Celida Rangel MD
Dr. Rangel was born in Brownville, Texas. She moved to Chandler during grade school. After high school, she headed north and attended Northern Arizona University. She got her degree in Chemistry with a Forensic emphasis. She went on to attend medical school at The University of Arizona, College of Medicine. During medical school, she fell in love with Pediatrics and completed her Pediatric Residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center.
She opened her clinic, West Phoenix Pediatrics, in 2005. Since then, she has been committed to caring for the children of the west valley. She was named a Top Doc by Phoenix Magazine.
Dr. Rangel is married and has two teenagers. During her off hours she enjoys spending time with friends and family; cheering on her favorite sports teams (Go Seahawks! Go ASU!); enjoying the outdoors and trying new restaurants.
Lisa Hunt MD
Originally from Utah, Dr. Hunt spent most of her childhood in central Phoenix. She left the valley to earn a degree in microbiology at Northern Arizona University, and then headed south to tackle medical school at the University of Arizona. Dr. Hunt completed her pediatric training at Phoenix Children's Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center.
While Dr. Hunt dedicates her local practice to children in the west Phoenix area, she spends part of each summer taking care of chronically ill children in Bolivia. She believes that each child deserves kind and compassionate medical attention regardless of where they live.
Dr. Hunt can often be found out and about in the downtown area, or hiking one of the local peaks on her days off.
About
Dr. Rangel and Dr. Hunt are proud to serve the children of the west valley.
During medical training a long long time ago, they often dreamed about going into business together, and are happy to finally see that dream come true! They run a small clinic, and this means they must have a strict office policy to keep things organized and fair to all.
General Policies
We are a general pediatric practice, composed of West Phoenix Pediatrics (Celida Rangel, MD) and Lisa Hunt MD, PLC. We are two separate practices operating in one office space with a shared staff.
Patients of Dr. Rangel (or Dr. Hunt) must remain with her for all primary care and well child visits.
Once assigned to Dr. Hunt or Dr. Rangel, we do not allow children to switch doctors.
You may see the other doctor for a sick visit if your doctor is not available that day.
We reserve Friday clinic for sick visits only, so be sure and call us early to make an appointment!
We allow you to cancel an appointment up to 2 hours before the scheduled time without penalty.
We do charge $25 for no-shows or cancellations within 2 hours of the appointment time.
Please be courteous and cancel instead of no-showing to an appointment so that we can use that time slot for another sick child. If you arrive late for your child's appointment, you may be asked to reschedule to a later date.
When making well child appointments, you may schedule up to 2 children together. Our schedules tend to fill up quickly, so please call us a few months in advance.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
